A young grower who is making waves with his modern take on red Burgundy, Antoine is fortunate to be working with 60-80 year old vines planted by his grandfather.  He is based in the village of Comblanchien, very close to Nuits St George, and believes his vineyards are 1er Cru quality.  Certified organic and farming biodynamically, he is constantly looking to improve his vineyards and wines.  The Emphase is a Cotes de Nuits Villages, but punches well above its classification.  The wines are made naturally with very little sulphur and they have a great vibrancy and energy.  Emphase is packed with sour cherry and berry fruit, spice, floral notes and minerals with crisp acidity and very fine grained tannins.  Decant for 2-3 hours if drinking young but keep a couple of bottles back to develop and then enjoy Pinot Noir at its magical best.
