From one of Uruguay's top producers, this exceptional single vineyard Tannat is produced in tiny quantities and is well worth getting your hands on.  It's sublime.  The nose entices you with its blackberry and damson, lifted wild strawberry, sweet spice and hints of caramel.  On the palate, it is full bodied but so well balanced and structured that you barely notice.  Layer upon layer of fruit come through - plum, blackberry, black cherry - along with spice, liquorice, pepper and minerals.  The tannins are really fine (Tannat is often quite chewy) and the acidity is bright and balanced.  As it sits in the glass, it gains complexity and really shows its class.  Bodega Garzon are producing quality wines across the board, but this is at the top end of the spectrum.
