Being a Man United fan, I'm slightly conflicted here as this is a new winery owned by ex Man City footballer, David Silva (he's now retired so I'm working on the assumption that his time at City was a period of temporary madness).  David is a Canary Islands native and has always enjoyed his wines, becoming good friends with Jonathan Garcia of Suertes del Marques.  When an estate on Gran Canaria came up for sale, planted with 6 hectares of old vines, David asked Jonathan to come on board as winemaker and Bodegas Tameran was born.  Located 600-700m above sea level and planted with local varieties on the volcanic soils, the farming is organic and the winemaking very hands off, letting the wines express their terroir.  Their first vintage, 2020, was excellent and generated great excitement, selling out quickly, and the latest vintage (even better) has just landed in the UK.  Crisp, fresh and exciting, this Marmajuelo has a beautiful aroma and texture with notes of apricot, orange, passion fruit, lime and rose petal.  Distinctive, different, complex and beguiling - stunning now and will get better in bottle.
