A fairly new producer in the Ribera del Duero but certainly one to watch.  Jorge Monzon has set out his stall to make restrained, elegant, terroir expressive wines from old vineyards and, with stints working for Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and Vega Sicilia, his pedigree is without question.  Certified organic but also embracing biodynamic principles, the Picaro is their introduction to their range.  It's a fresh, vibrant wine, full of plum, blackberry and strawberry along with vanilla and sweet spice.  Juicy and very approachable on the palate with that velvety fruit accompanied by bright acidity, supple tannins and a fresh, mineral character that complements the wine.  Well balanced, lots going on and very moreish, it's a cracking insight into what Jorge can do.
