Wow - one of the best whites I have had in a long time!  This Chardonnay, from the brilliant Isole e Olena, sits halfway between an Old World and New World Chardonnay, having the best of both worlds.  The fruit is simply beautiful, lots of subtle tropical notes with citrus, peach and blossom, but there's so much more.  It's full but so well structured and balanced with mouth watering acidity and minerality that it appears lighter than it is, the wine showing purity and elegance.  The oak is really well judged, present but integral, adding a layer of spicy seasoning, and the wine is long, moreish and complex.  It really is everything you would want in a top quality Chardonnay, cracking now and I would imagine it will develop well in bottle.  Although how much better can a wine get??
