One of Italy's iconic white wines from a producer who has been at the forefront of defining the image of Italy's quality whites.  For those in the know, I don't need to wax lyrical about how good this is and its wonderful ageing ability.  And, if you've not tried it before and want a special occasion wine, then treat yourself to a bottle.  Medium straw in colour, the nose reveals delightful notes of peach, citrus, tropical fruit and cream.  The palate is rich yet perfectly balanced and really, really complex (the complexity goes off the charts after a few years in bottle).  Peach, apricots, lychee, pineapple, lemon, lime, cream, vanilla, salted almonds - a huge array of subtle flavours - along with bright acidity and a lovely mouth feel.  The finish is long and hugely satisfying and gets better with air in the glass (decant if drinking young).  Expensive but worth every penny.  Wow!
