There's some brilliant Syrah coming out of SA at the moment and this joins that club.  Working organically, albeit not certified, winemaker Bernhard Bredell produces his wines in a gentle, minimal intervention style and this really is sensational.  Pure and elegant with velvety blackberry, morello cherry, violets, white pepper and black olives, it's classic Syrah rather than New World Shiraz.  Integrated along with the beautiful fruit is fresh acidity, really fine tannins and a wonderful mineral streak running through.  Only about 1200 bottles are produced each vintage so a rare gem.....
