Another stunning wine from this legendary producer (they make Portugal's top wine, Barca Velha). This is in the upper echelons of their portfolio but without the price tag that goes with Barca Velha (if you can get your hands on it). The Quinta da Leda is simply an exquisite wine - smooth, balanced, silky and delicious. The nose exhibits an array of red and black fruits along with tobacco, cedar, spice and a lovely floral note. The fresh fruits continue on the palate - like a fine claret but with the fruit a touch sweeter - then there are hints of cigar box, graphite, clove, chocolate, violets and slate. Pretty complex and cashmere like in the mouth, rich and refined at the same time. The tannins are really plush and whilst there doesn't appear to be high acidity, the wines do age and improve for 10-15 years plus. However given how well it drinks now, I'd refer you to our mantra of "if it tastes great, drink it".
