Castro Ventosa is star winemaker Raul Perez's family estate, the place where he cut his teeth as a teenager and where he is now consultant winemaker.  This wine comes from a tiny 0.2 hectare plot of 100+ year old vines at the top of the La Cova de la Raposa vineyard, so it's a truly tiny production (I read about 500 bottles made).  And I was blown away by how good it is.  Lovely ripe red fruit - raspberry mainly - with hints of darker cherry, sweet spice and a peppery spice, medium bodied with an elegant structure and freshness, minerals and a bit of tobacco.  A good length of finish as well and still fresh, despite some good bottle age.  Silky, refined, delicious and a bit different.
