Inspired by his time in the Northern Rhone, Tim Kirk has been producing his version of Cote Rotie for the last 25 years, making multi award winning wines. His top wine is a blend of 94% Shiraz and 6% Viognier and this is a very impressive wine with fragrant notes of red and black berries, rose petal, pepper and spice. It's very fine and beautifully balanced on the palate, with the ripe mix of berry fruits sitting in harmony with spice, white pepper, olive and a hint of oak. It's powerful yet restrained at the same time, wonderfully structured with plush tannins and good acidity. You can enjoy it now but this is really one for the cellar. Given that demand hugely outstrips supply each vintage, it's worth grabbing yourself a case while you can.
