From one of our favourite Tuscan producers, I hadn't drunk this in a while but it's as I remember it - a perfect marriage of both elegance and underlying power in a wine. The nose is expressive with lifted blackberry and raspberry along with floral hints and a herbal note. It is fresh and silky on the palate with black fruit to the fore and red notes in the background. Pure and elegant but with that underlying power and structure, bright acidity and a fine tannic frame. Hints of toasty oak, black olive, bay, pepper and sweet spice complete the picture along with a lengthy finish. Excellent.
