A beautiful wine from France's Savoie region from a young man named Clement Bartschi. Having studied enology and viticulture, Clement honed his craft at such places as DRC and Chapoutier before purchasing a 2 hectare plot in Manicle, a small appellation at the southern base of the Jura mountains. I have to be honest, most of the wines I've tried from Savoie haven't been to my taste. But this is quality, especially given the youth of the project. Nuanced notes of citrus, peach, tropical fruits and gun flint abound on the nose, then the palate is fresh and crisp with good weight and balance. There's a mix of fruits - lemon, mandarin, apricot, mango - along with minerals, a slight nuttiness and smoky notes on the finish. Very persistent, clearly well made and it will develop well in bottle. One to watch.
