This project was started back in 2001 by Dominik Huber (wine and food obsessive) and winemaker Eben Sadie, when they both fell in love with Priorat. Eben now solely focuses on his South African wines but Dominik has driven the business forward, implementing biodynamic principles in the vineyards and minimal intervention winemaking, letting the fruit really express itself. The fact that these pure, expressive wines now enjoy cult status is a testament to Dominik's vision and hard work and we're pleased to be able to list both the Terra de Cuques Blanca and Tinto, both of which are mighty hard to get hold of. The Blanca, 80% Pedro Ximenez (better known for sweet wines), 20% Muscat d'Alexandria, is made in the same way as the reds - whole clusters macerated on skins for two weeks before pressing into a concrete tank where they finish the fermentation - so technically an orange wine. This method adds phenolic and flavour compounds to the wine without adding any bitter tannins. The nose is fresh and floral with bright citrus and apricot. This leads into a wonderfully pure, textured palate which is rounded, balanced and delicious. Peach, apricot, citrus, nectarine, white flowers, hints of herb, honey, saltiness, good acidity, long and lovely.
