Peter Dawson and Tim James are veterans of the Australian wine scene, having worked together for over two decades, and you can see their collective skill and wisdom in their Tasmanian project.  The Chardonnay - winner of the International Wine Challenge Trophy in 2021 and Gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2022 - is a stunner with a smoky, struck match nose and notes of citrus, grapefruit, tangerine and apple.  The struck match note soon settles to reveal a crisp, precise palate with citrus and tropical fruit, quite linear and tight to begin with then opening out into an intense and vibrant wine with lemon curd to the fore and a mineral edge.  It's balanced, long and delicious and will get better and better with a few more years in bottle.  These guys are slightly under the radar and small production, so it's a great time to start following them.
