Restless River have been on our radar for a while as we'd heard great things about Craig Wessels' wines.  They have quietly achieved cult status amongst lovers of finely crafted Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Cabernet Sauvignon so we were excited to try them for ourselves.  And this single vineyard Chardonnay, WOW, what a wine.  Produced from the oldest Chardonnay vines in the region, this is a wine that drinks like great Meursault (and you'd be forgiven for making that mistake).  It is so elegant, rich but perfectly poised with subtle layers of fruit - apple, pineapple, peach, lemon - along with a hint of ginger, soft creaminess, minerality and a saline note.  Beautifully balanced, it's a joy to drink and the finish is never ending.  Although their reds are exceptional too, this is probably my favourite wine of their line up.
