New batch recently disgorged but needs a bit of time under cork to settle.
Cuvee Boz is Dermot Sugrue's only Blanc de Blancs, produced from Chardonnay from Jenkyn Place in Hampshire (who Dermot has worked with for years). It is a special release wine, limited edition, and dedicated to Dermot's late brother Boz. Dermot wanted to make a special wine and he has done so here - it is truly exceptional.
100% fermented in stainless steel with full malolactic fermentation, dosage 9g/L. The nose is enticing, laden with notes of citrus, subtle tropical fruit, brioche and apple. The mouthfeel is wonderful, crisp, silky, pure and fresh with zippy acidity and a finish that probably lasts two minutes. Beautifully balanced and revealing more of itself as you sip - a bit of biscuit, lemon curd, minerals - it's a wine made for extended ageing, although it is truly lovely now. I've been instructed to add to our cellar by Jo, who loved it, as did I.
