Considered one of the wines of the vintage by Robert Parker (he scored the wine 96 points), this is very fine claret from a producer that has been very highly regarded for some years now. This is still very youthful, so decant for a couple of hours if drinking now and it will open up to reveal aromas and flavours of cassis, blackcurrant, tobacco, graphite and toast, along with some lovely lifted notes and a long, satisfying finish. Beautiful claret. It's well structured with firm tannins and bright acidity and will develop further in bottle for another decade or two. A wine that holds a special place in my heart given that 2008 was the first vintage that I visited Bordeaux for the en primeur tastings, and Alfred Tesseron and his team are always most welcoming (often with a lovely lunch).
