This was one of my wines of the year last year, simply exceptional but so difficult to get hold of more than a few bottles each vintage. It is Syrah at its purest and finest, which is why Gonon is regarded as the greatest producer in Saint Joseph. Now run by Pierre's sons, Jean and Pierre, they are certified organic and produce this wine from 80 year old vines. This wine has everything - great purity of dark fruit, savoury hints, lovely acidity, fine tannins, sumptuous mouthfeel, minerality, complexity, length. It's truly astounding so whenever you see some for sale, grab it!
