Another gem from the brilliant Henschkes, this is a New World Pinot Noir that I'd probably place as Burgundian if tasted blind. The nose starts off in the savoury spectrum, with hints of mushroom but slowly reveals notes of wild strawberry, cherry and raspberry as well as floral hints. On the palate, it is vibrant and elegant with spicy cherry and cranberry along with hints of truffle. There are also notes of smoke, sweet spice and earthiness. With mouth watering acidity and silky tannins on the finish, this has some decent ageing potential (10 years plus) so it will be really interesting to see how this develops, good as it is now. It has a great length of finish, superb balance and real poise - but we didn't expect anything less from Henschke.
