As the head winemaker at Penfolds for years, including making their iconic Grange, John Duval is a man that knows his craft and his own label wines are outstanding. Sourced from the same growers that used to supply Penfolds, Plexus is his blend of 49% Shiraz, 34% Grenache and 17% Mourvedre and is a brilliant introduction to his range. Vibrant purple red in colour, the nose reveals pronounced aromas of black and red fruits with hints of sweet spice and smoky oak. On the palate, it is velvety with generous amounts of blackberry, plum, raspberry and cherry fruit along with cinnamon, toasty oak and savoury hints. The tannins are juicy and fine, the acidity fresh and balanced and the length of flavour excellent. A truly lovely blend.
