Petra are owned by the Moretti family (who also own Bellavista Franciacorta) and I was lucky enough to visit their impressive new winery a few years ago. It's a state of the art, architect designed winery and it has both style and substance. The immaculate vineyards are in the process of being converted to organic, the winemaking is top notch and they've even got an impressive array of floating solar panels on their lake which continually orientate towards the sun. The wine they produce is excellent, their Hebo being a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Sangiovese. It's a seriously good wine, packed with cassis, blueberry and cherry fruit along with tobacco, spice, cedar and toasty oak. Supple and elegant, vibrant, structured, long and harmonious, it's brilliant value as well. Get some in your cellar.
