A joint venture between the families that own Chateau Lynch Bages of Bordeaux and Portugal's iconic Quinta do Crasto, this is incredible value for such a top wine. It's the junior version of their sublime Xisto (which now retails at around £80 a bottle) and I wouldn't say it's far off the quality of the grand vin - but at about one third of the price. Smooth and characterful with layers of dark berry fruit, plums, spice, minerals, leather and tobacco. Supremely well balanced with very fine tannins and good acidity, the wine has a lovely underlying freshness which balances the rich fruit. Silky and supple, long and harmonious, and with the potential to develop in bottle for a decade or so, it's a real bargain for something so good.
