From Plantagenet in the south western corner of Australia, down near Albany (worth a visit if you're ever in Perth), the Three Lions Pinot Noir seems to get better each vintage. A notoriously difficult variety to work with, we normally shy away from Pinots at this level as most of them just aren't that good. But this is a little gem with oodles of strawberry, raspberry, red cherry and rhubard sitting alongside subtle soft spice, a bit of savoury earthiness and well integrated oak. It's fresh and juicy, wonderfully balanced and perhaps just a bit too easy to drink. A happy wine.
