Frederic grew up in Beaujolais and now farms 6 hectares in the region.  His main focus is on the granite soils of Lantignie, which he believes will become the 11th cru of Beaujolais.  His Pierre Bleue, named after the soils on the eastern side of the village, is a prime example of new wave Beaujolais which is exciting many wine lovers.  It's a surprisingly deep colour in the glass with fragrant notes of bramble and blueberry.  Soft and juicy in the mouth, the dark fruit flavours persist with subtle hints of spice, floral notes and a mineral edge.  The tannins are juicy and the acidity well balanced, leaving you more than ready for the next sip.  Forget the simple Beaujolais you used to know, this is seriously well made wine that drinks beautifully now but perhaps even better in a few years.
