Over the years, we've sold lots of John's wines and we're big fans of his. As the head winemaker at Penfolds for years, including making their iconic Grange, he’s a man that knows his craft and his own label wines are outstanding. Sourced from the same growers that used to supply Penfolds, the Entity is the more approachable of his Shirazes (the Eligo needs a decent amount of time) and each vintage is much sought after. His 2020 is another classic, delivering a showcase of the great old vines of the Barossa and Eden Valley while giving it a modern sense of vitality and vivacity. It's packed with plums, blackberry, clove, roasting spices, mulberry and compote, vanilla soaked raisins and mocha. At once it is supple and elegant, but underneath is the force of the great ancient vines that Duval has within his arsenal. The tannins and oak will see this wine last 10-15 years plus although it's so good now, you may not be able to wait.
