Sandeman may be better known for their Port offerings but they've been serious players in the sherry market since 1809. This is an outstanding sweet sherry, produced from shrivelled Pedro Ximenez grapes, fortified with grape spirit and then fed into a solera system, meaning the average age of the final wine is 20 years. Pronounced on the nose with notes of dried fruits, raisins, toffee, coffee and spice, the palate is full and luscious with a complex array of sweet caramel and preserved fruit flavours. Smooth and rich, this is like drinking nectar. Stunning.
