We are fortunate to get an annual allocation of the outstanding wines from Domaine Guiberteau, given the wines are becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of.
Romain Guiberteau is an ambitious young producer. He worked with Nady Foucault at Clos Rougeard and counts some of the Loire's most esteemed growers - Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau, Maxime Graillot - as his friends. His wines are becoming highly sought after but still represent great value at this moment in time. The Saumur Blanc is his entry level white but saying entry level does not do it justice. Packed with apples, citrus, flowers, minerals and honey, this has freshness, purity, balance and complexity in spades. A great introduction into Romain's whites and worth grabbing some whenever you see it on a list as there's not a lot of it about!
