Godello, Albarino & Dona Blanca / 13.5% / biodynamic

This wine is from Ribeira Sacra, in the north west of Spain, and is a blend of Godello, Albarino and Dona Blanca produced by Dominio do Bibei.  They've been in the region since 2001 and have really pushed for local producers to focus on quality wines only, given how difficult a place it is to grow grapes.  It's an exciting region and one to keep an eye on.  Their Lapola is a stunner - fresh and inviting on the nose with apple blossom and peach notes.  But it's on the palate where it really comes alive - I noted hints of poached pear, peach, pineapple, citrus, honeysuckle and a subtle saline edge.  And along with the complex array of fruit flavours, there's this amazing underlying mineral edge (almost Chablis-esque) and mouth-watering acidity that I love, suggesting it will develop well over the next 5-7 years.  It's matured in oak vats but you don't really notice the oak, adding more to the texture rather than the taste.  It is a really beautifully balanced wine with enough weight to pair with food but fresh enough to quaff on its own.  Cracking value for such quality.

Highly rated by the wine community at Vivino here.
