One of Italy's great wines, produced from grapes that dry for 4-5 months in Allegrini's temperature (and humidity) controlled drying facility (I was lucky enough to visit some years ago and it's an impressive operation) . 50% of the weight of the grapes is lost at this stage, so you can imagine the intensity left and the result is a benchmark wine bursting with dark fruit, pepper and floral notes. On the palate, the cherry and plum attack is swiftly followed by more subtle flavours of preserved fruit, herbs, dark chocolate, smoke, cloves and vanilla. It's all balanced by good acidity and very fine tannins, a wine of great concentration and finesse. A classic.
